If I had easy access to a helicopter, I'd fly to New York this weekend

I'd like to experience a big city but only in a small dose. I think I'd feel to lost and out of place to stay there for two long.

I lived there this summer and it is a way cool place. First place I have ever been to where people actually understood my jokes and references. The best thing about New York, believe me or not, is the people. Now I realize that New Yorkers are supposed to be rude and short with strangers but nothing can be further from the truth. I had some great conversations with strangers and some really intense insights too.

I was over in Staten Island which is the big island south of Manhattan, where most things happen. New Jersey is in the West, Brooklyn to the East, North is the Bronx.
Staten Island was surprisingly suburban and you can take the FREE ferry over anytime- it runs all night- passing the Statue of Liberty on your right, which was much smaller than everybody thinks.

All in all, a very cool city and worth saving money for a summer to spend two or three weeks there. After that, you might think about going even further...
